Welcome to Creative Economy Week in Eau Claire!

During Creative Economy Week we’ll shine a spotlight on the strong and growing arts and culture economy in Eau Claire and the Chippewa Valley. We want to recognize the efforts and importance of the creative class workers that add to the quality of life we enjoy in Eau Claire.

The creative economy is a powerful engine of growth and community vitality. Together, artists, cultural nonprofits, and creative businesses produce and distribute cultural goods and services that generate jobs, revenue, and quality of life. A thriving cultural sector leads to thriving communities. The arts and culture sector in the U.S. is a $699 billion industry, providing 4.3 percent of the nation’s GDP. This impact drives economic development on the national, state, regional, and local level.

Mike Paulus has worked in local publishing for almost two decades. He's been an editor with Volume One Magazine for over 10 years, where his "Rear End" column has appeared since 2004. He's a frequent contributor to Wisconsin Public Radio's Wisconsin Life program, and he's hosted multiple cat shows. He grew up on the west side of Eau Claire, but he lives on the Eastside Hill with his wife and two kids.
